Salvation Army thrift stores reopen, expand
Salvation Army thrift stores are facing sharply different local circumstances: Redding’s Westside store has reopened after flood repairs kept it closed for about three months, while its donation center stayed open. In Victoria, the organization is opening a second store, with proceeds intended to support local services such as food, housing, rehabilitation and disaster relief. Joplin’s store is seeking volunteers to help process a surge in donations and keep merchandise moving. In Springfield, a store scheduled to close because it is no longer profitable will be replaced if the Salvation Army can secure a new location, with a reopening hoped for in 2027.
