Samsung, Google Unveil Galaxy Glasses with Gemini AI

Samsung unveiled Galaxy Glasses, its first entry into smart eyewear, developed with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker and powered by Google’s Android XR with Gemini AI, designed as display-free glasses tethered to a smartphone. The glasses can summarize long messages, read information aloud, translate conversations in real time, capture video with a built-in 12MP Sony camera, and organize notes in Samsung Notes, with control primarily via voice and gestures linked to a Galaxy Watch 9. They weigh about 50 grams and use directional open-ear speakers, offering up to nine hours of battery life per charge, plus a charging case that provides up to seven additional charges. Prices are reported around $379, with multiple frame designs and colors planned for this fall as the launch approaches. Privacy features include a camera recording LED and wear-detection that disables the camera when covered or when worn, addressing concerns about always-on cameras.
