Reports say Samsung will make AMD Nvidia HBM at second Texas fab

Samsung plans to use its second Taylor, Texas, chip plant to make base dies for high-bandwidth memory used in AI systems for AMD and Nvidia, according to reports citing South Korean industry sources. The facility is expected to use 2-nanometer technology, with AMD reportedly accounting for most of its already-booked output; equipment installation is scheduled to begin in 2029, and production is targeted for 2030. Samsung declined to comment, and the reported plans have not been independently confirmed.
