San Antonio Dinner Seeks Volunteers for 34,000 Meals
San Antonio organizers are seeking volunteers for the 47th annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner, a tradition begun in 1979 to ensure people in need have a warm meal and a place to belong. The event is expected to provide roughly 34,000 meals, including about 4,600 delivered to homebound residents, with thousands more served at the Henry B. González Convention Center on Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers are needed for food preparation, cleanup, decorating, greeting and other tasks; registration is open until positions are filled. The dinner will also feature an all-faith service, entertainment and activities, and residents can request meal delivery by calling 211.
