San Antonio-New Braunfels ranked 16th among nearly 400 U.S. metro areas for veteran entrepreneurs, based on factors including livability, veteran support, economic growth and business opportunities. Austin ranked third, Dallas-Fort Worth seventh and Houston 19th, while Washington, D.C., and Raleigh placed first and second. Separately, a new San Antonio innovation report found that fewer startups formed and less investment flowed into the region last year, while innovation employment grew in 2025. Local leaders said the region has significant potential and existing strengths, but needs to better connect organizations and address gaps compared with other major cities.

An analysis of more than 28,000 FDA adverse-event reports found that reports involving caffeine- and stimulant-containing drinks or supplements were more likely to include cardiac arrest, heart attacks and abnormal rhythms than reports involving products without those ingredients. About 45% of the related cardiovascular-event reports involved people ages 18 to 34; researchers and clinicians cautioned that the observational findings do not establish causation and may be affected by other factors and reporting limitations.
