San Francisco Seeks Probe Into 40 PG&E Outages
San Francisco leaders are urging the California Public Utilities Commission to open a public investigation into PG&E, citing at least 40 major outages since January, infrastructure-project delays and fires involving utility equipment. The proposed review would examine the recurring reliability problems as well as the December 2025 Mission Substation fire, which knocked out power for about 130,000 customer accounts and left some residents without electricity for days. The latest disruption affected roughly 2,700 customers in Bayview and Visitacion Valley, with PG&E investigating the cause and crews assessing repairs. City officials say regulators should scrutinize PG&E’s infrastructure and response to failures, while the commission says its investigation into the December blackout is ongoing.
