San Francisco Startup Hires Robot-Dog Walkers for $20 an Hour

San Francisco robotics startup Dimensional offered $20 an hour for part-time workers to guide robot dogs through city streets for four to six hours, even though no robotics experience was required. The roughly 33-pound machines could overheat or stop, leaving operators to carry them back to the company’s office. The walks were intended to collect real-world navigation data and help improve Dimensional’s open-source robotics software, reflecting how current AI still struggles to control hardware reliably in unpredictable urban environments.
