Sangamon Board Holds First Mental Health Forum
The Sangamon County Mental Health Board held its first public engagement session in Springfield to hear residents’ concerns and discuss priorities for local mental health programs. The board, formed after Sonya Massey’s killing, said community input will help shape its draft one- and three-year plans, building on recommendations from earlier commissions; no decisions were scheduled at the session. The board oversees mental health services and facilities and is expected to distribute revenue from a county sales tax, though funding decisions are not imminent. Board leaders said they plan further public forums.
