Sankey Wins Montgomery Council Runoff by 13 Votes

Johnnie Chambers Sankey narrowly won the Montgomery City Council District 3 special-election runoff, defeating Gregory Crawford 450 to 437, a 13-vote margin. The results are unofficial pending the counting of provisional ballots and certification. Sankey said she plans to listen to residents and focus on rehabilitating homes to provide safe housing and reducing litter. Crawford congratulated the voters and said he would continue working with the council and supporting the district. The seat became vacant after officials determined former council member Marche Johnson no longer lived in District 3.
