Sarasota Museum Hosts 100-Photo Traveling Show
Sarasota’s arts scene is showcasing several exhibitions, including Art Center Sarasota’s “Joy in Motion,” featuring drawings, prints and sculptures by Venezuelan American artist Jorge Blanco, whose public artworks aim to bring optimism to shared spaces. Sarasota Art Museum is also presenting a 25-year survey of Ringling College alum Chie Fueki, whose mixed-media paintings merge personal imagery with playful distortions of time, space and perspective. A second museum exhibition, “Presence: The Photography Collection of Judy Glickman Lauder,” gathers more than 100 works by over 50 photographers for a meditation on empathy, resilience and human connection. Beyond the galleries, the Sarasota Opera occupies a 1926 theater built by the city’s first mayor; nearly demolished in the 1970s, the venue was acquired by the company in 1979 and later restored.
