Sarkisian Keeps Texas Play-Calling, Special Teams Roles
After Texas’ 27-24 loss to Oklahoma, coach Steve Sarkisian ruled out giving up offensive play-calling or changing special-teams staff responsibilities, saying the team simply needs to play better. The defeat intensified scrutiny of an inconsistent offense, including quarterback Arch Manning’s two interceptions, and special teams, which allowed a blocked-punt touchdown and missed a late field goal. The struggles followed special-teams problems against Tennessee, while Texas’ defense also made costly mistakes in the rivalry game. Sarkisian acknowledged missed opportunities and said improving performance is his responsibility, as Texas prepares to face Florida.
