School boards assess finances, programs, leadership
The Johnson County School District received a clean audit for fiscal 2026, with its general fund balance down less than 1% and overall cash rising largely because of construction bond proceeds and state gap funding. Loudoun County school officials reviewed enrollment projections, early budget considerations and first-quarter finances, while also considering capital-budget and policy changes. In Gasconade County, a review of Missouri’s A+ scholarship program recommended earlier communication, consistent progress monitoring and expanded tutoring and mentoring to help more students meet eligibility requirements. New Haven’s school board began its superintendent’s annual evaluation in a private session but has not decided whether the review will be written or oral, a choice that could determine whether the public can access its findings.
