Schools Bring Science to Life Through Experiences
Schools are using field trips and interactive projects to connect science lessons with real-world experiences. Cobb County fifth graders attended an Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performance that incorporated lessons on animal sounds and organism classification, while West Carroll Primary students explored the science behind autumn leaf colors. In Colorado, about 225 Steamboat Springs ninth graders studied riparian ecology and local history while helping plant willows and alders for a creek restoration project. Charlottesville eighth graders applied lessons on force and motion by building and launching model rockets with help from high school engineering students. At Arthur Street Elementary, second graders and their families explored scientific principles through an interactive magic show.
