Schools, Cities Mark Dyslexia Awareness Month
Recent efforts to support people with dyslexia include the Learning Center for Dyslexia’s move into a permanent Port Charlotte location after years of changing facilities, and awareness events in Connecticut and Mississippi. In Waterbury, UConn and community partners illuminated landmarks in red to encourage understanding, early identification, and evidence-based instruction; a Mississippi middle school marked the month with red clothing, announcements, and displays celebrating people with dyslexia. Separately, Neuhaus Education Center is recruiting a paid tutor-intern who will provide reading intervention to K–12 students while receiving funded training and supervised experience toward dyslexia therapy certification.
