Scott Fowler Marks Decades at Charlotte Observer With 26 APSE Awards

Scott Fowler has been a sports columnist for The Charlotte Observer since 1994 and has received 26 APSE awards for his writing. He hosted the newspaper’s “Carruth” podcast, recognized by Sports Illustrated as “Podcast of the Year,” and created the “Sports Legends of the Carolinas” interview series, which later became a book. Fowler has also covered non-sports subjects, including the forgotten 1974 Eastern Air Lines Flight 212 crash in Charlotte through his five-part “9/11/74” series.
