Scottish Greens seek island inclusion in £500m fund
Scottish Greens are urging the government to include Orkney and Shetland in its £500 million Just Transition Fund, saying investment is needed to replace jobs as oil and gas employment declines, including after redundancies at Sullom Voe. The fund currently supports Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray, but excludes the islands. Separately, a Shetland councillor criticized plans to sell two Methodist chapels in Culswick and Westerskeld without first consulting the community; public meetings are being organized to discuss their future.
