Scouts, Communities Plan Food Drives Across Regions
Scouting groups and community organizations are supporting people facing food insecurity through local food drives and garden projects. In the Black Hills, Scouts will collect donated nonperishable food for area food banks and Feeding South Dakota, while a New Hampshire Cub Scout pack is gathering groceries for the Lakes Region Food Pantry. In Lacombe, residents are being asked to donate food and household essentials, and a Wyoming Eagle Scout project helped expand a church community garden whose four plots produced about 346 pounds of vegetables. These efforts rely on neighborhood donations and also give young people opportunities to serve their communities.
