Seabridge Agrees to Acquire Wyoming Copper-Gold Project
Seabridge Gold agreed on October 13, 2026 to acquire 100% of the Slaughterhouse project in southern Wyoming from Orogen Royalties for US$300,000 cash at closing, plus up to US$2.55 million in milestones: US$300,000 after 10,000 metres of drilling, US$750,000 on a mineral resource estimate, and US$1.5 million at commercial production start. The deal covers 163 U.S. mining claims and Orogen data. Orogen keeps a 2.5% NSR on existing claims, reducible by 0.5% for US$5 million, and a 0.5% to 1% royalty in a 2,400-square-kilometre area of mutual interest. A Form 6-K was filed the same day. The target is a 12-kilometer hematite-dominated trend likened to South Australia's Gawler Craton, with grab samples up to 12 g/t gold and 7% copper and a Proud Peak density anomaly more than 2 kilometres long. Rudi Fronk said: "If you look at all the states in the United States to try and get something permitted on, Wyoming's not a bad place to be," and that the approach "will employ a novel concept that has never been tested in Wyoming with modern exploration thinking and tools." Bill Threlkeld said IOCG deposits "can offer superior grades compared to porphyry deposits including concentrations of critical minerals." Wyoming ranked 4th of 82 jurisdictions in the Fraser Institute's 2024 survey. Seabridge has not announced an exploration schedule or budget.
