Seahawks’ Darnold Diagnosed With Glute Injury
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold suffered a muscle-related glute injury during the team’s season-opening 13-10 win over the New England Patriots, after initially being thought to have a hip injury. Further evaluation found no fracture or major structural damage, but Darnold is expected to miss at least the Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals, with his availability for Week 3 against Washington uncertain and a possible return in Week 4. Drew Lock, who led Seattle’s comeback after replacing Darnold, is expected to start while Darnold recovers. Coach Mike Macdonald said the hip is intact but declined to provide a definitive timetable.
