SEC fines Tennessee $500,000 after fans storm field vs Alabama

The Southeastern Conference fined Tennessee $500,000 after fans rushed the field at Neyland Stadium following the Volunteers’ 26-10 win over Alabama. Under SEC policy, the fine goes to the visiting school, so Alabama will receive the money. Tennessee had security around the field and asked fans to wait until Alabama left, but spectators flooded the playing area as soon as the game ended. The SEC says the commissioner may reduce the penalty if Tennessee shows it made a full effort to prevent the rush and that contact with the visiting team was minimal.
