Second Albuquerque Road-Rage Driver Held Pretrial
Both drivers involved in an Albuquerque road-rage confrontation that went viral have been charged. Video from the August incident showed Jenipher Lewis striking Robert Hagen’s truck with a baseball bat, then Hagen crashing his truck into Lewis’ SUV as she drove away with her children inside. Lewis faces charges including aggravated assault and child abuse and remains jailed pending trial; Hagen faces aggravated battery, property damage and leaving-the-scene charges, and a judge has also ordered him held pending trial. Hagen was initially released after speaking with police, but prosecutors brought charges after further review; his attorney says police had previously indicated Hagen was a victim and is seeking to have the charges dismissed. Lewis’ attorneys say Hagen’s charges offer a more complete account of the confrontation and may support her effort to be released.
