Second NC Flu Death, Eighth Wisconsin Bird-Flu Case
North Carolina officials reported the season’s second human flu death, with both people who died aged 65 or older; the first death was reported in early October. Separately, Wisconsin confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza in a commercial poultry flock in Barron County, its eighth poultry detection this year. The affected farm was quarantined and its birds depopulated, and officials said the flock’s birds will not enter the food supply. State officials urged poultry and livestock owners to strengthen biosecurity and follow movement restrictions in designated control areas.
