Security Guard Shoots Man Outside Nashville Greyhound Station
A 22-year-old man, identified as Jacorey McIntosh, was taken into custody and charged with felony aggravated assault after a Sunday-morning fight outside Nashville’s Greyhound station in which security guard Douglas West shot him in the hip and leg. Police say West had earlier asked McIntosh to leave, and that McIntosh later threw hot coffee in his face, punched him, struck him with a magazine from West’s vest and threatened to kill him. Police say surveillance video shows McIntosh moving toward West after West got up and drew his gun, prompting West to fire; West suffered burns and bruising to his face and head. The shooting raised questions about whether the force was necessary, though a defense attorney who reviewed the reported circumstances said it appeared justified. One news outlet said it had not obtained the surveillance footage.
