Seligman Ventures Doubles Deployable Capital to $1 Billion

Seligman Ventures has doubled its deployable capital from $500 million to $1 billion less than a year after launching, citing strong opportunities in AI infrastructure, data-center hardware and cybersecurity. The firm has invested in more than 14 companies and deployed over $300 million, exceeding its initial plan to make six to eight investments in its first year. Its portfolio spans areas including AI computing, optical connectivity, networking, power and cooling, and the firm expects to make five to 10 additional investments over the next year using a mix of early-stage and late-stage or pre-IPO deals. Seligman says it takes an active role in its private investments, with board and observer seats, as public-market firms increasingly seek earlier access to startups that are staying private longer. The strategy also reflects lessons from Seligman’s earlier venture effort, which was wound down after the dot-com collapse.
