Sen. Taffy Howard Faces $5,063 Donation Complaint
Wyoming state Rep. Mike Yin filed campaign-finance complaints against gubernatorial candidates Megan Degenfelder, Rebecca Bextel and Brent Bien, alleging their reports showed donations above the $2,500 limit for statewide races. Degenfelder and Bextel called the complaints frivolous; Degenfelder’s campaign attributed some entries to reporting errors, while Bien said he would review possible duplicate contributions. Wyoming’s secretary of state said the complaints are under review. Separately, the Pennington County Democratic Party asked South Dakota officials to investigate a reported $5,063 contribution of advertising from Florida consulting firm Southeastern Strategies to state Sen. Taffy Howard’s campaign, alleging it may exceed the $1,000 limit for business contributions to legislative candidates. The complaint was referred to the attorney general, but officials have not announced findings, and the filing itself does not establish a violation.
