Bridgeport Police Investigate Two Unrelated Shootings Hours Apart
Bridgeport police are investigating two apparently unrelated shootings Wednesday that injured a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy. The older victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds near Reservoir and Alba avenues around 1:19 p.m.; he was in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery. Police believe he was targeted in a drive-by, possibly involving a vehicle carjacked earlier that day, and issued a vehicle lookout. The teenager arrived at Bridgeport Hospital around 4 p.m. with a gunshot wound to his arm and was in stable condition; detectives are investigating reports of a bleeding man driving near Success Avenue and searching for a possible crime scene. No arrests have been made, and police say they have no reason to think the shootings are connected; the Reservoir Avenue incident follows another shooting nearby late Friday that also remains unsolved.
