Separate killings, robbery cases bring guilty pleas, convictions
In separate fatal-shooting cases, Leonard Edwards was convicted of manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon for the 2021 killing of Jonathon “Johnny” Polanco outside a Southeast Portland 7-Eleven; prosecutors recommended a 10-year prison sentence. In Portsmouth, Virginia, Reginald Aaron Suggs was convicted of aggravated murder and related offenses in the September 2025 shooting death of Orlando Maurice Watts near a supermarket, and is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 4. In Jackson, Mississippi, Darrell Stewart pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of Christopher Goolsby outside a store and received a 30-year prison sentence. Prosecutors said surveillance video showed Stewart approach Goolsby with a firearm and shoot him as he tried to flee.
