SES Wins Inflight Deals With Finnair, Air Astana

SES has secured in-flight connectivity contracts with Finnair and Air Astana, using a multi-orbit satellite network combining OneWeb low-Earth-orbit and SES geostationary satellites. Finnair plans to equip 18 new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, expected to enter its fleet from the third quarter of 2027, for European service. Air Astana’s first SES-equipped Airbus A321LR entered commercial service on October 29, 2026, with installations continuing across the fleet in phases. The service uses an electronically steered antenna and will offer passengers onboard internet through an airline-branded portal, with complimentary and paid options; Air Astana initially plans to provide free Wi-Fi to all passengers on equipped aircraft before shifting to selected free access and paid packages.
