Sevilla protests unshown red card after 4-1 loss
Sevilla players and coach Luis García Plaza disputed the decision not to send off Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler after he elbowed Peque Fernández during Madrid’s 4-1 win, arguing that VAR should have prompted an on-field review and that Sevilla lost the chance to play with a man advantage. García Plaza also alleged a foul on Rubén Vargas before a Madrid goal, while acknowledging that Madrid deserved to win with both teams at full strength and stopping short of saying Sevilla would have prevailed. The controversy unfolded amid a wider dispute between Real Madrid and La Liga president Javier Tebas: Madrid and its fans have called for his resignation after he criticized the club’s claims of anti-Madrid refereeing, and Tebas responded to the fans’ protest.
