Bad light leaves Shadman Islam on 99 as Bangladesh reach 213-3

Shadman Islam anchored Bangladesh’s first innings against the West Indies in Mirpur, finishing the rain- and bad-light-shortened opening day unbeaten on 99 as the hosts reached 213-3 after 74 overs. He faced 219 balls and hit 10 fours, building key partnerships with Mominul Haque and Towhid Hridoy after Bangladesh lost an early wicket and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Hridoy retired hurt on 42 with cramps, while Litton Das was 10 not out. West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican took two wickets, but fading light ultimately denied Shadman a chance to reach his third Test century before stumps.
