Shein reportedly agrees to $100M FTC settlement
Shein has agreed to pay $100 million to settle a U.S. Federal Trade Commission investigation into delivery delays and other customer complaints, an amount equal to about 44% of its second-quarter profit. The company said it had reached a constructive outcome and would provide more details, while the FTC declined to comment; Shein had previously warned investors the investigation could lead to significant penalties. The settlement adds to regulatory and commercial pressures on the fast-fashion retailer, including a European Commission investigation into illegal marketplace products, a $168 million French fine over cookie practices, and European fees that have weighed on its business. Shein’s shares have fallen 22% since their September 1 listing, and analysts reported a steep year-over-year decline in app downloads across several markets.
