Shelters Waive Pet Adoption Fees Across US
Several animal shelters are waiving adoption fees to help pets find homes. The Roanoke Valley SPCA is covering fees for cats and dogs of all ages through the end of the month, while the Humane Society of West Michigan held a sponsored free-adoption event for animals six months and older on Oct. 24. Individual dogs also have sponsored or waived fees: Neptune, a 7-year-old terrier mix at SPCA of Brevard; Sky, a 6-year-old dog at the Humane Society of Broward County; and Mattie, a 3-year-old dog at Iredell County Animal Services. The shelters describe these dogs as affectionate or easy to handle and invite prospective adopters to contact or visit them; each has its own guidance about household fit and adoption procedures.
