Short Interest Rises in Five Securities From Very Small Bases

Several unrelated securities reported sharp increases in short interest between September 30 and October 15, though the percentage jumps largely reflect very small starting totals. Indonesian lenders Bank Rakyat Indonesia and Bank Central Asia reported short positions of 674,958 and 955,871 shares, respectively, while the reported short interest in the PGIM Nasdaq-100 Buffer 12 ETF – April rose to 17,332 shares. Else Nutrition Holdings reported 30,901 shares sold short, equivalent to about 0.4% of its shares, and Sino-Ocean Group reported 975,897 shares short. Sino-Ocean’s reported average trading volume was zero, making its days-to-cover figure unreliable; the other reports also describe varied trading activity and do not establish why short interest increased.
