Shreveport Dentist Gets Maximum 17-Year Domestic Violence Sentence
Shreveport dentist John Allen Russ, 39, was sentenced to 17 years in prison—the maximum allowed—after pleading guilty to four domestic violence felonies stemming from a May 2024 attack on his fiancée. The judge ordered the sentences for serious bodily injury, strangulation and two child-endangerment counts to run consecutively, citing Russ’s risk of further violence and the cruelty of his conduct. Two children were present during the assault, and investigators learned of other alleged violence against the victim. At sentencing, the victim described the lasting harm of the abuse, while prosecutors and others in court highlighted the broader toll of domestic violence.
