Shrimp Basket Closes Six Locations, Refocuses Coastward

Shrimp Basket has closed six restaurants: five inland Alabama locations in Tuscaloosa, Bay Minette, Cullman, Gardendale and Auburn, plus its Warrington restaurant in Pensacola. Parent company Artistry Restaurants said the closures reflect a strategy to concentrate resources on the chain’s 12 remaining beach and coastal locations, returning to its origins as a Gulf Shores seafood restaurant. The company cited the proximity of its Pensacola-area restaurants as a factor in that closure and said it hopes to retain affected employees by helping them find transfers to other locations.
