Sigma Nu indefinitely suspends NC State chapter
Sigma Nu has immediately suspended the charter of its Beta Tau chapter at North Carolina State University, ordering it to cease operations and remain closed indefinitely; the university has also suspended the chapter and withdrawn its recognition. The actions follow a criminal investigation into alleged hazing, with search warrants describing graphic video evidence and allegations including physical abuse, pressured drug use, induced vomiting and hospitalizations. Sigma Nu says the conduct violated its principles and policies, and that active members face individual disciplinary proceedings. University police are continuing their investigation, and prosecutors have said criminal charges could result.
