Sioux Falls unveils community-shaped Orpheum Theater mural

Sioux Falls unveiled “The Stage That Raised Us,” a mural by local artist Jenae Porter on the Orpheum Theater’s north wall, celebrating the 1913 venue and the city’s performing arts community. Local youth and residents helped shape the design through workshops and festival feedback, contributing ideas, artwork, words and preferences that informed its warm colors and collage-like composition. The artwork combines musical imagery and architectural patterns inspired by the theater, and was commissioned by the City of Sioux Falls Arts Commission with city funding tied to improvements at the venue.
