Eldorado Gold completes Skouries mine link to Greek national grid
Eldorado Gold announced on September 28, 2026, that its Skouries copper-gold mine in northern Greece completed permanent grid energization after final inspection, testing and approval by the Greek transmission authority. The permanent connection replaces temporary on-site power used during early commissioning and is intended to support continued plant ramp-up toward steady-state operations. Shanghai Metals Market reports Skouries produced its first copper-gold concentrate on September 8, with crushing, grinding, flotation and concentrate and tailings thickening systems already operating. Eldorado continues to target commercial production in Q4 2026. Expected average annual life-of-mine output is 140,000 ounces of gold and 67 million pounds of copper, about 30,400 tonnes of copper per SMM, over an initial mine life SMM puts at roughly 20 years. Eldorado lists as TSE:ELD and NYSE:EGO and operates assets in Canada, Türkiye and Greece. Attention now turns to raising processing rates and the commercial-production target.
