Solheim Ties Moutai Quality to Chishui Protection

At the 2026 Chishui River Forum in Guizhou, EU-Asia Centre President Erik Solheim said environmental protection and economic growth can reinforce each other. He credited river cleanup with improving residents’ health and quality of life while drawing tourists and supporting local jobs. Solheim said Guizhou has advanced infrastructure and reduced poverty without sacrificing its environment, and that the region’s natural resources underpin both Moutai production and local prosperity.
