South Africa Trust Opens 100th School Library
Libraries are serving communities in varied ways, from Ohio’s architecturally distinctive public buildings to spaces that workers are increasingly using as offices. In Kansas, librarians gathered for professional development on topics including artificial intelligence while discussing financial pressures and proposed federal cuts to library funding. In South Africa, a community trust marked the opening of its 100th school library, part of an effort to expand reading access for underserved students. CBC is also offering Canadian public libraries free workshops and resources to help patrons identify misinformation and navigate media. Together, these efforts highlight libraries’ roles in learning and community life even as institutions adapt to changing needs and funding challenges.
