Pennsylvania approves $150,000 UGI settlement over alleged pipeline defects

Pennsylvania regulators approved a settlement requiring UGI Utilities to pay a $150,000 penalty after inspections found 52 plastic pipeline joints that failed inspection or company procedures across projects in four Lehigh Valley communities; UGI replaced the unacceptable joints, and no leaks, fires, explosions, injuries or property damage were reported. The agreement bars UGI from charging customers for investigation and repair costs and requires stronger construction oversight, quality assurance and safety reporting; UGI disputed the alleged violations.
