Southern Miss plans $25 million ballpark renovation

Southern Miss has launched fundraising for a roughly $25 million renovation of Pete Taylor Park, aiming to modernize the 1984 ballpark while preserving its traditional atmosphere. Plans include new and relocated entrances, improved access and sightlines, renovated and additional suites, premium and social spaces, upgraded concessions and restrooms, and expanded player-performance and baseball-operations facilities. The project could increase capacity to about 6,500, though that figure may change. Construction timing has not been set; the university says it must raise about 60% to 70% of the projected cost before advancing to the next planning phase. Fundraising will draw on donations, corporate partnerships and premium-seat revenue, with naming opportunities also available.
