SpaceX Reportedly Eyes Boost Mobile Deal
SpaceX is in talks to buy EchoStar's Boost Mobile or gain access to its network, the Washington Post reported on Nov. 2, 2026, citing two people familiar with the negotiations. The talks remain preliminary. Elon Musk met EchoStar Chairman Charlie Ergen last month to discuss potential transaction structures. SpaceX CFO Bret Johnsen said on a recent earnings call the company aims to "become a major mobile carrier … in the United States." SpaceX is targeting $1 trillion in revenue in 2027. MoffettNathanson values the U.S. wireless market at about $235 billion. SpaceX operates more than 12,000 satellites, has FCC approval to deploy 15,000 next-generation Starlink Mobile satellites, and agreed to buy nationwide 800 MHz spectrum licenses from Grain Management, up to 14 megahertz of low-band frequencies. It has asked contractors and tower firms about building terrestrial sites in more than 20 U.S. markets, with Southern California as an early test area. EchoStar's wireless business had 7.357 million subscribers in its Q2 report. Any network-access deal may require AT&T and T-Mobile approval. No definitive agreement has been announced. EchoStar shares rose about 4% pre-market Monday; SpaceX shares were reported 2.8% higher.
