Spain names Alcaraz-led Davis Cup team

Carlos Alcaraz will lead Spain’s Davis Cup team, alongside Rafael Jodar, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez, as the country seeks its first title since 2019. Captain David Ferrer said he was pleased to have the full squad available and considers Spain among the favorites. Alcaraz, ranked third in the world, returned from a four-month wrist injury layoff at the US Open and recently won the Japan Open in Tokyo. Spain, last year’s runner-up, opens against Austria in Bologna, with a possible semifinal against Britain or Germany.
