MLB Releases 2027 Spring Schedules Amid Lockout Risk
Major League Baseball released 2027 spring training schedules for all 30 teams, with games scheduled to begin Feb. 19 and regular-season openers planned for March 25. The Astros, Cardinals and Diamondbacks are among the teams with announced opening matchups, while the Athletics are set to begin Cactus League play against the Cubs in Arizona. Houston is scheduled for 15 home games and two exhibition games against Triple-A Sugar Land before opening the regular season against Texas. The schedules remain tentative because MLB’s collective bargaining agreement with the players’ union expires Dec. 1, and a lockout is widely expected amid disputes over issues including spending limits, contract rules and deferred salaries. A similar 2022 work stoppage delayed spring training and the regular season, raising concerns that the 2027 schedule could be postponed or significantly disrupted.
