NFL extends Goodell through 2030, aligning deal with labor negotiations

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has agreed to a four-year contract extension that will keep him in charge through the 2030 season, with the deal ending March 31, 2031. The extension will extend Goodell’s tenure, which began in 2006, to 24 years and align his contract with the expiration of the league’s current collective bargaining agreement. Financial terms were not disclosed, but more than 95% of his compensation will reportedly be tied to performance metrics determined by the league’s Compensation Committee. Goodell’s tenure has coincided with major growth in NFL revenue, media rights, franchise values and international games, although he remains unpopular with some fans and faces ongoing scrutiny over league policies.
