Tennessee Plans First Georgia Tech Visit in 40 Years

Tennessee and Georgia Tech will renew their century-old rivalry Saturday night in Atlanta, with the Volunteers making their first appearance at Bobby Dodd Stadium since 1986. Tennessee enters as a heavy favorite after a 56-9 win over Furman, while Georgia Tech is seeking its first victory after a one-point home loss to Colorado. The Yellow Jackets’ defense held Colorado to 14 points, but Tennessee’s offensive line must improve its physicality after a less convincing performance against Furman. Tennessee’s defense also impressed in its opener, recording 12 tackles for loss and six sacks, though players expect first-year coordinator Jim Knowles to unveil a more complex scheme against stronger competition. The matchup will feature a personal storyline as twin coaches Kelsey Pope of Tennessee and Kyle Pope of Georgia Tech face each other for the second time as competitors.
