A.J. Brown questionable to return after ankle injury in Patriots opener

New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown left his debut against the Seattle Seahawks early in the third quarter after Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett landed on or rolled over his right ankle while defending an incomplete pass. Brown walked off under his own power, was evaluated in the medical tent and locker room, and was listed as questionable to return. Before exiting, he had three catches for 26 yards and drew a 34-yard pass-interference penalty that helped set up New England’s touchdown; the Patriots led 7-0 at the time and later extended their lead to 10-0. Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold also suffered a hip injury after being sacked on the opening drive, was ruled out before halftime, and was replaced by Drew Lock. Patriots tight end Hunter Henry briefly underwent a concussion evaluation but returned to action.
