Canadiens Sign Kreider to One-Year Deal

The Montreal Canadiens signed 35-year-old forward Chris Kreider to a one-year contract after he and the Anaheim Ducks mutually terminated the final season of his previous seven-year, $45.5 million deal to give Anaheim salary-cap flexibility. Financial terms were not initially disclosed, but reports valued the contract at $2.15 million, with performance bonuses that could raise its value by roughly $3 million to $3.25 million. Kreider scored 22 goals and 50 points in 75 games for Anaheim last season, his only campaign with the Ducks after 14 seasons with the New York Rangers, and has totaled 348 goals and 632 points in 958 regular-season games.
