Antonelli, Marquez Win Madrid and San Marino Races

Kimi Antonelli won the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix at Madrid’s new Madring circuit, earning his eighth victory of the season and extending his championship lead over Mercedes teammate George Russell to 81 points; Max Verstappen finished second and Lando Norris third after a virtual-safety-car pit-stop decision cost Norris the lead. Marc Marquez won the San Marino MotoGP sprint at Misano, his sixth sprint victory of 2026, beating polesitter Marco Bezzecchi by 1.068 seconds, with championship leader Jorge Martin third. Bezzecchi had taken a record second consecutive pole with the circuit’s first sub-1:30 lap, while Fermin Aldeguer completed the front row and Martin qualified fifth; Bezzecchi’s pole followed crashes involving Alex Marquez, Pedro Acosta and Jack Miller in practice and qualifying. Manuel Gonzalez won Moto2 to extend his championship lead to 47.5 points, and Maximo Quiles beat David Almansa by 0.021 seconds in Moto3.
